Baby Batten has arrived!
Ella Margaret Batten was born on February 1, 2009 at 12:45 pm weighing 7 lbs. 8 0zs. and measuring 20 1/2 inches long. Mom woke-up in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 1st w/ some cramping, which soon turned into contractions. We started timing them at about 1:40 a.m. and watched them go from 5 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart pretty quickly. So we called the Doc and headed to the hospital. We arrived around 4:30, no the hospital isn't that far only about 8 miles actually. Anyway, checked in around 4:30 a.m. and went from there. I was progressing right along on my own, when the Doc showed up I was dilated to 6 cm and we decided to break my water. From there I just kept progressing until I reached 10 cm, pushed for 3 hours and now we have the most beautiful baby girl!

2 days to go...
Well we're down to the last 2 days...hopefully the next thing I'm posting is news of the birth of baby B. I had another Dr. appointment yesterday and I'm still making progress and if I don't go into labor over the weekend then I go in on Monday and they'll check me and schedule me for sometime next week. I guess 3 -4 days is all they'll let me go over. I'm really hoping that this little shit decides to come on it's own!

The countdown
The countdown has officially begun, 10 days and only 7 1/2 of those are working days!!! I'm so ready for maternity leave! I had another Drs. appointment yesterday, I'm b/w 1 1/2 & 2 cm dilated and about 70% effaced - we're making progress! My next appointment is next Wednesday, a lot can happen in a week! I'll keep you all posted.
Our friends Megan and Justin just had their little guy Monday night, she wasn't due until tomorrow - lucky little shit. He is so stinking cute, check him out on our friend Mandy's blog http://mandymillerphotos2.blogspot.com/2009/01/baby-lane.html

Time to say goodbye to Christmas

This year we got a fake tree and I really loved it. I didn't figure I'd want to be under the tree watering it and vacuming up needles every day so we took the easy route. Plus next Christmas we'll have an 11 month old running around and probably won't want to go out and cut down a real tree and mess w/ all of that. When our kids get older though, we're going back to real trees. I loved trudging through the snow when we were younger w/ mom and dad to pick out our Christmas trees, it's a Sadler family tradition that I want to continue w/ my family.
Today Ben and I took down everything Christmas. I took care of everything inside the house and he did all the lights outside of the house. I love Christmas, the lights, decorations and cozyness of home! It feels good to have it all down and put away though too :) Our tree always goes up the weekend of Thanksgiving and we usually take it down right around the New Year. We have to make room for all of this baby stuff that has started taking over our house! We've got the pack n play, stroller, car seat, bouncy chair...oh my!
I think we're ready!
This weekend we finished up our shopping at Babies R Us, we've only had 1 baby shower and we still needed a lot of stuff for when the baby comes. We got our travel system, huge relief among $500 worth of other baby stuff, who knew such a tiny little thing needed so much? Now I can truly say that I'm ready whenever the baby decides s/he's ready! Ben even put the base in the car so all we have to do is grab the car seat when it's time. It's so cute too, I have it sitting here in the den w/ the bundle me in it all ready to go, all it needs is a tiny healthy beautiful little baby!
Tomorrow night we have our first of two baptism classes and Wed. I have my 36 week Dr. appointment - hopefully they tell me I'm dialated or effaced or something...actually I'm still okay w/ being pregnant I've loved it! I know I'm going to miss my belly, not as much as I'll love holding our new baby I'm sure!
