Ella - 5 weeks
So I'm horrible @ this whole blog thing...too many other things to try to get done while she's sleeping! Ella is now 5 weeks old, wow time flies. This weekend she spent the night @ grandma and grandpa Batten's house so mom and dad could go out for our cousin's bachelor/bachelorette parties. It was really strange not having her in the house, I figured I'd wake-up in the middle of the night freaked out that she hadn't gotten up, but I guess I drank enough that that didn't happen! Last week she started cooing and jabbering, she smiles too - not directly at us yet, but it won't be long! She's such a good baby sleeping 6 hours through the night, mom still gets up twice w/ her, but I love that time w/ her. Usually her 2nd time getting up is when Ben is getting ready for work so it's nice that he gets to see her before he leaves. Then we usually go snuggle in bed and watch the news and drift in and out of sleep! She likes to sleep - nurse - sleep - nurse, we have to break that little habbit! Other than that all is good @ the Batten household!

2 week check-up
Well our little piggy is growing! Friday we went in for Ella's 2 week check-up - she now weighs 8lbs 6ozs - she's a good eater! She's growing so fast! I think we're finally on a schedule, she eats about every 3 to 4 hours so I'm up twice during the night, which I guess isn't bad. She's quite the shopper too. Yesterday I took her to the mall to meet up w/ another gf who's on maternity leave and we spent all day at the mall! She was such a good girl, slept the entire time besides waking for 1 feeding. Dad better look out, his girls love to shop!!!

Baby Batten has arrived!
Ella Margaret Batten was born on February 1, 2009 at 12:45 pm weighing 7 lbs. 8 0zs. and measuring 20 1/2 inches long. Mom woke-up in the early hours of Sunday, Feb. 1st w/ some cramping, which soon turned into contractions. We started timing them at about 1:40 a.m. and watched them go from 5 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart pretty quickly. So we called the Doc and headed to the hospital. We arrived around 4:30, no the hospital isn't that far only about 8 miles actually. Anyway, checked in around 4:30 a.m. and went from there. I was progressing right along on my own, when the Doc showed up I was dilated to 6 cm and we decided to break my water. From there I just kept progressing until I reached 10 cm, pushed for 3 hours and now we have the most beautiful baby girl!
